Here's how it works

A supplier uploads to our platform the basic data about a commodity needed for traceability, such as product references, dates and locations. When customers buy the commodity they add the next layer of traceability data, based on what they do with the commodity, but they don’t need to re-enter the original data. All the parties later in the chain only have to add their own layers of data. This saves time and money compared to all parties needing to keep a complete set of traceability data in their own records.

Full control

A supplier can choose to upload additional data about a commodity, and then they can control who can see this information. For example, in-depth operational data or sustainability metrics. The additional data allow a more joined-up understanding about a commodity, and further increase the value to customers in the chain.

A customer can trace a line of supply much more easily when all the data is held on our platform. Information is at their fingertips, not in multiple spreadsheets.

Accessible data

Sustainability data can be integrated into core business data, not separated or siloed. And risks to the business can be acted on more decisively when data is readily available and easy to access.

Also, subscribers to our digital platform can customize reports that help uncover patterns and insights that would otherwise be hard for an organization to access were it only using its own data.

To measure and report on impact, and demonstrate quantitative alignment with SDGs, sustainability professionals need timely access to reliable data. However it can be complex and time-consuming to gather this information because, often, it’s not part of day-to-day operations. What’s different about farmer connect is that our platform enables organizations to integrate sustainability metrics with transactional and operational data in one software-as-a-service solution. This means that sustainability professionals can easily carry out ‘self-service traces’ on product sourcing. They can also customize reports to sift through aggregated data in order to identify patterns and drivers of sustainability throughout the supply chain. This enables them to focus field interventions where they are most needed.

To what extent is your sustainability data reliable and tamper proof?

Our platform enables farmers and coops to share certificates uploaded by agronomists or NGOs. Once the data has been uploaded there is protection against tampering within the blockchain technology, which was developed specifically for people to share data in a secure way even if they don’t know or trust each other. The reliability of data in our platform adds weight to reports prepared by sustainability professionals.

Are you looking for a way to engage consumers with brand sustainability?

farmer connect enables the generation of QR codes that can be stickered or printed on to packets of traceable products. People take a packet, scan the QR code with their phone and link to our ThankMyFarmer™ app, which shows a map of that packet’s journey. For example: from fields in Colombia to an importer in the Netherlands, a roasting facility in Germany, and then to a distribution centre in England. Brands can include content about the product, the taste profile, and stories about origin and sustainability interventions throughout the supply chain. Where appropriate, there’s an option for consumers to make a direct contribution to projects that benefit farming communities at source. All this helps to ‘bring to life’ sustainability activities and humanize consumption.
